"HONEST" BARACK'S USED CAR LOT

by Randy Wyles

It’s no secret that I’ve not been a big fan of this “Cash for Clunkers” car welfare program.  I see a tidal wave of bad car loans, defaults and repos heading straight for us in the not-so-distant future - made possible by the same tax-and-spend (especially money we don’t have) government we always see when liberals are allowed to sit at the “big table” with the adults.

Now the Obama Administration is allowing new car buyers to use the government issued “car welfare” credits to buy new cars that the dealers don’t even have in stock.  On top of that, dealers all over America are complaining of “slow pay” by the government for those clunkers the dealers have already taken in.

Again, why are we, the people, buying old cars from those who can’t afford new cars to begin with?  Isn’t that like rewarding a teenager with a new car when he hasn’t taken care of the old one?

Meanwhile, this “slow pay” on the part of the feds is causing serious cash flow problems for dealers – like the car industry wasn’t having problems already - and now Obama is forcing the dealers to provide cars that aren’t in stock, while existing inventories sit on lots all over the country.

It’s just piling stupid on top of ridiculous.

We need to use up the inventory already in existence.  Of course, what we really need is for the government to be out of the car business – and the banking business, the insurance business and the health care business.

Like I say, I thought this was a bad idea to begin with – but, then, I haven’t seen any good ideas coming from the firm of Barry & Company – also known as Dewey, Cheatem and Howe.
